TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Istiqlal Mosque spokesman Abu Hurairah predicts that some 4,000 packages of the meat of the sacrificed animals will be handed out to beneficiaries in Idul Adha this year. The figure is lower than last year due to the declining number of sacrificial animals.
“This year, we have 27 cattle and 26 lambs,” Abu said in Jakarta, September 1.
The Istiqlal Mosque administrator last year distributed 6,000 packages of meat of the sacrificed animals to the locals.

Moreover, Abu said that the organizing committee has changed the meat distribution mechanism. In Idul Adha last year, residents came to the Istiqlal Mosque to get the meat. The organizers will now bring the meat to residents.
They will handed out the meat in the evening. The slaughter will be conducted in the afternoon, he said.
President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla donated a local Tuban Ongole cattle each to the Istiqlal Mosque as they did in Idul Adha last year.
