Sacrificial Animals in Greater Jakarta Monitored by 129 Officers

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As many as 129 officers will monitor the slaughter execution of sacrificial animals for the Eid al-Adha Day in Jakarta greater area. Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health at the Agricultural Ministry said they will be spread across areas of Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek).
“Their responsibilities include maintaining the quality, health and appropriateness of sacrificial animals on Eid al-Adha celebration on September first, 2017,” the ministry's acting director of the veterinarian public health division Fadjar Sumping Tjatur Rasa said in Jakarta on Friday, August 25.
Fadjar explained that team members are vets and paramedics who are specially assigned to monitor sacrificed cattle in Jakarta, Bogor, Bogor Regency, Depok, Tangerang, South Tangerang, Tangerang Regency, Bekasi, and Bekasi Regency.

The team, Fadjar continued, serves to carry out supervision of animal health documents, antemortem and postmortem examinations, supervision of slaughter and the processing of meat and organs of the cattle. “The examinations are conducted during Eid al-Adha and tasyrik day,” he said.
Fadjar added that this year, the team is also accompanied by officers in charge of monitoring cattle seedling and grazing. ”They play an important role in monitoring cattle markets and shelters.”
