TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A new statue of Indonesian water buffalo (Banteng Wulung) at the Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX or BEI) building does not only serve as a new icon of Indonesian stock market, but will also serve as a new icon of Jakarta tourism.
BEI president director Tito Sulistio said that the seven ton statue is expected to be a new tourism site in Jakarta in the field of finance.
Tito explained that tourists could visit IDX or BEI and take a selfie in front of the statue made of 2.5 million years-old fossil wood.
“This is also part of culture and it is expected to serve as another icon of Jakarta tourism,” Tito Sulistio said on Sunday (13/8).
The statue was officiated as the new icon of Indonesia Stock Exchange coinciding with the 40thIDX anniversary.
Tito added that the world of stock market is commonly associated with two animals. The first animal is a bull which represents rising composite index (IHSG) or known as bullish, while another animal is a bear representing composite index and the market are on a downward trend or known as bearrish.
