TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI) will file a lawsuit against the revocation of its legal body status with the State Administrative Court (PTUN). HTI`s legal counsel Yusril Ihza Mahendra conveyed the statement.
The move will be taken as a response to the decision issued by the Law and Human Rights Ministry in accordance with Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perpu) No. 2/2017 on mass organizations.

“Ther Perpu has opened the door for the government to become dictators. The government unilaterally disbanded the mass organization without giving them a chance the defend themselves and without a proper and fair legal process,” Yusril said in a press release today.
HTI spokesperson Ismail Yusanto earlier questioned the reasons behind the HTI’s permit revocation as a form of administration sanction based on alleged violations.
“The violations are not clear. To this date, we haven’t received any notices from the government,” Ismail claimed.
Ismail pointed out that under the Perppu, a legal body status of an organization shall be revoked through a warning notice sent to the concerned organization.
“We haven’t received any notice. Therefore, the government has broken its own rules,” he said.
Ismail suggested that the government has made a baseless allegation, and HTI did not have an opportunity to defend itself.
Earlier, the government stated that HTI conducted anti-Pancasila activities.
