TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) said that the government will not have to consult Jakarta administration over the plan to move the capital city.
Bappenas head Bambang Brodjonegoro reasoned that the decision will be made by the central government only. “It [Jakarta administration] has nothing to do with it. The government is the one to decide on finding the center of administration,” he said yesterday, July 6, at the parliamentary complex, Jakarta.

Bambang added that Bappenas has not decided on the details of the plan because the study is ongoing. The study on moving capital city is expected to complete by year-end so that the preparation process can be started in early 2018.
The Public Works and Public Housing Ministry will prepare the detail engineering design. “The preparation for the move may take 4-5 years,” he said.
The study on moving the capital city will also involve other parties and may also include businessmen, according to Bambang. “All will be definitely asked to join discussion, talks, but now the study is ongoing; an official proposal has not been made yet,” he said.
