TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A 23-year-old woman named Italia Chandra Kirana Putri was shot dead after catching two motorcycle thieves red-handed in Tangerang City yesterday.
Tangerang Metro Police chief Sr. Comr. Harry Kurniawan said that the incident took place at 2 pm. The thieves broke into the victim’s garage to steal her motorcycle. “But the owner caught them in the act and screamed at them, the offender saw and shot the victim,” Harry said.
A bullet hit Kirana in the right chest. The women fell while the motorcycle thieves managed to run away. Neighbors who came to the scene found the women dead.
According to Harry, eight witnesses had been questioned. They are the victim’s parents and neighbors who saw the shooting.
The police said that there were allegedly two attackers. A witness saw the perpetrators riding a blue motorcycle. “Witnesses also saw the profiles of the attackers,” Harry said without giving further details.
