TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) seized Rp 10 million in a sting operation (OTT) in Bengkulu. The anti-graft agency arrested three people including the chief of intelligence section 3 of the Bengkulu Prosecutor's Office Parlin Purba on Friday, June 9.

"In addition to arresting the three people, the team also confiscated Rp10 million on the scene. The money consists of Rp100,000 bills and it was put in a manila envelope," KPK deputy chair Basaria Panjaitan said in Jakarta on Friday, June 9.

Basaria explained that KPK received a tip-off of the bribe payment made by a Commitment Maker (PPK) official of  BWS Sumatra VII and a contractor to the chief of intelligence section 3 of the Bengkulu Prosecutor's Office Parlin Purba.

The sting operation was carried out on Friday at dawn at 1 o’clock. The three people were brought to Bengkulu police station to be investigated and they were then brought to KPK building to undergo further investigation.

Basaria stated that there is an indication that this is not the first bribe and a Rp150 million from projects in Bengkulu Province was previously accepted. After conducting a 24-hour investigation, the anti-graft agency concluded that this is a corruption case related to gratification from projects in BWS VII Sumatra, Bengkulu. KPK then named the three people as suspects.
