TEMPO.CO, Jakarta- Deputy Chief of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Laode Muhammad Syarif, confirmed that as many as 37 members of Commission II of the House of Representatives (DPR) have received kickbacks from the e-KTP (electronic identification card) project.
"According to the case reconstruction that is what we believe had happened," Laode said at the KPK building on Thursday, March 9, 2017.
Laode asserted that the 37 names will be investigated further by examining the case reconstruction mentioned in the indictment documents drafted by the prosecutors. However, Laode refused to disclose the names of the DPR members.
Similarly, KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah confirmed that as many as 37 Commission II members were mentioned in the indictment documents read in the case’s first trial today, March 9, 2017.
Febri said that the KPK will focus on pressing charges against two of the case’s prime suspects, namely Irman, former Director General of Demography and Civil Registration of the Interior Affairs Ministry , and Sugiharto, Director of Demography Administration Information Management at the Directorate General of Demography and Civil Administration.
Febri said that the 37 names were included in 70 names and five companies suspected to have received money from the e-KTP project.
Febri added that the 37 names will be made public as the case's trial progresses. "The names will be revealed one by one during the trial, along with who received what and how it relates to the case," Febri concluded.
