TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro police have searched Pizza Hut’s warehouse Tuesday at PT Kiat Ananda Cold Sotarage, Bekasi.
An official of Jakarta Metro Police Adj. Sr. Comr. Sutarmo said police did not found expired ingredients during the search.
The warehouse adopted a computerized system in food processing. “The management is computerized, hence we did not find expired ingredients,” Sutarmo told Tempo Thursday.
Sutarmo expressed that police have searched the said warehouse and questioned Pizza Hut and Pizza Hut Delivery (PHD) to collect information on food storage and distribution. “Pizza Hut restaurant and PHD [PT Sari Melati Kencana] only lease the building which is owned by PT Kiat Ananda for storing food,” he said.
Moreover, Sutarmo said he has coordinated with the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim). “Investigation into expired ingredients at Pizza Hut outlets is ongoing,” he explained.
Investigation by Tempo and BBC Indonesia shows that Pizza Hut, Pizza Hut Delivery and Marugame Udon used expired ingredients at their outlets. Tempo gathered several documents and testimony which confirm the use of expired ingredients.
Earlier, the National Police Investigation Unit had investigated the case. On April 18, 2016, Bareskrim searched Marugame Udon at Gandaria City shopping mall, South Jakarta. Eight days later, police searched a food warehouse owned by PT Kiat Ananda Cold Storage.
