Former Immigration Officials Arrested in Human Trafficking Case

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) police on Saturday (3/9) arrested two former Kupang immigration officials, IN and GM, for their alleged involvement in the human trafficking case of Indonesian migrant workers to Malaysia.
"The case began from a report of an Indonesian migrants family that one of their relatives was sent to Malaysia," said Head of Public Relations Division of NTT regional police Comr. Sr. Jules Abraham Abast to Tempo.
Both suspects were arrested in two different places. IN, was arrested in Rote Ndao regency while GM was arrested at the NTT regional office of Justice and Human Rights.
Both suspects were implicated in the human trafficking case for smoothing the immigration documents for an illegal immigrant named Charlie to Malaysia.
"We’re still investigating the case,” Jules said.
