TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Indonesia is preparing to build new Special Economic Zones (KEK). According to state officials, the government is discussing about the establishments of four economic zones.
"Sorong, Merauke, Lhokseumawe, and Tanjung Kelayang (Belitung) are being proposed as special economic zones," Finance Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro said in Jakarta on Tuesday, March 1, 2016.
Last week, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution held a dissemination about the development policy of logistics system in Manado, North Sulawesi. During his visit, he said that wants a bonded logistics center to be made available. Not just to develop ports, but also followed by other industries.
Regarding making Tanjung Kelayang as a special economic zone, the government had already named Bitung as an International Hub Sea Port for the benefit of Indonesia's commerce industry in the eastern parts that crosses the Pacific Ocean region. The decision is stipulated in Presidential Decree No.26/2012.
The government had already named eight areas as special economic zones: Maloy Batuta Trans Kalimantan, Tanjung Lesung, Tanjung Api-api, Sei Mangkei, Palu, Morotai, Mandalika, and Bitung.
