TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-The mischiefs done by motorcycle gangs are getting out of hand. Not only riding their motorbikes inconsiderately, they are often engaged in criminal acts.
"The members are teens. If they have no money, they are willing to commit crimes," said the Chief of Unit V Sub-Direktorat Reserse Mobil Direktorat Reserse Kriminal Umum Kepolisian Daerah Metro Jaya, Commissioner Handik Zusen, last Wednesday.
In Jakarta, Handik said, the criminalities involving motorcycle gang members oten occurred the most in East Jakarta. "[It] happens in other places, but not so much," he said.
Handik gave example on the gang fight took place under Pasar Rebo flyover on October 4. Oktaf "Poter" Andriyanto and Calvin Faldi Mainaky suffered 17 stabs. Calvin's motorbike was stolen by his attacker.
In order to control it, police are keeping eye on the spots where motorcycle gangs tend to commit their mischief. "We monitor their hangout spots," added Handik.
