TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Foreign Affair Marty Natalegawa stated that he is in the process of proposing to rent a water canon plane to three countries. The decision will be made by The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) who assess all options to put out the fires.
"The point is that we will rent, not borrow or asking for help. So far, interaction have been made with Russia, Australia and South Korea," said Marty at Merdeka Palace.
He also said that Russian water canon airplane is well known and once rented by Australia when they had a massive fire. BNPB had quoted that they are in need of two airplane and three helicopters having big capacity to extinguish the big fires in Riau. "BNPB will consider all options and chose which option can be done as soon as possible," Marty said.
