Jakarta Police Set Up Security Plan for 212 Grand Reunion

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Raden Argo Prabowo said his side had received a notification letter in light of the 212 Grand Reunion which would be held at Monas on December 2, 2018.
The police intelligence bureau is currently setting up security plans for the event. “Then we will estimate the number of personnel to be deployed,” said Argo in Jakarta Police headquarter on Tuesday, November 27.
After the plan set, Argo continued, the police traffic unit would manage regulations during the event. However, Argo had yet mentioned whether there would be traffic engineerings such as one-way traffic or contraflow.
Argo ensured the police were ready to guard the grand reunion which would coincide with the birthday commemoration of the Prophet in Istiqlal Mosque. President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo reportedly planned to present in the event in Istiqlal Mosque on December 2.
“We will maintain the security during the events, there is no problem,” Argo noted.
Meanwhile, the 212 Alumni Brotherhood or PA 212 is currently gearing up to hold the Reunion. Its chairman, Slamet Maarif, said the event would take place at Monas.
"We will conduct tausiyah (public sermon), zikr (prayer recital), and commemorate the birthday of the Prophet on Sunday, December 2," said Slamet at the office of the Coordinating Political, Legal, and Security (Polhukam) Ministry in Jakarta, Friday, November 9. The tausiyah would be delivered by the leader of Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), Rizieq Shihab.
