TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) announced that it recorded 16 earthquakes striking a number of Indonesian regions yesterday and earlier this morning, including Aceh.
The latest BMKG report states that a magnitude 5.2 earthquake hit Banda Aceh, with the epicenter at 106 kilometers southwest of the city, from the depth of 10 kilometers. The agency’s report also said that the quake was felt up to Sabang City and Calang, Banda Aceh.
Other areas affected by the earthquake include Mamasa in West Sulawesi with a recorded seven earthquakes from 01:25 – 21:44 Western Indonesia Time (WIB) which peaked at magnitude 3.4 earthquake.
Multiple earthquakes ranging from a 5.3 and 4.7 earthquake with the epicenter at 138 kilometers southeast off of Bitung City, North Sulawesi happened at 11:31 and 13:39 yesterday. The shallow earthquake was felt up to North Minahasa and Ternate.
