TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As of the third quarter this year, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted increasing growth in the production rate of large and medium manufacturing industries.
In the first quarter of 2018, the quarterly growth rate was 1.21 percent. In Q2 and Q3, the growth rates are estimated at 1.49 percent and 4.13 percent. Annually, the growth of large and small industrial production as of Q3/018 rose 5.04 percent (yoy).
"This is very encouraging," BPS chief Suhariyanto said at a press conference at the BPS Office in Jakarta, Thursday, November 1.
On a quarterly basis, the highest growth was posted by the vehicle, trailer and semi-trailer industries with a rate of 15.11 percent. Meanwhile, the biggest decline was experienced by the leather, leather goods and footwear industries, which fell by 10.6 percent.
With 25.41 percent, the food and beverage industry is still the largest contributor to total production, albeit only posting a growth of 10.56 percent in the 3rd quarter.
