TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police`s general criminal investigation Director, Sr. Comr. Nico Afinta said that the two shooters that ended up lodging two stray bullets into an office at the House of Representatives (DPR) headquarters are not members of the Indonesian Shooting and Hunting Association (Perbakin).
“IAW and RMY have yet been members of the Perbakin,” said Nico at the Jakarta Metro police headquarters today. However, he underlined that the firearms both men used were the types often used in practice shooting.
Two bullet projectiles ended up lodged inside the office of DPR’s Wenny Warouw and Bambang Heri which were located on the 16th and 13th floor.

According to Nico, IAW and RMY were practice shooting at the Senayan Shooting Range just hundreds of meters from the House of Representatives office complex. Both men planned to shoot 450 rounds with a Glock 17, borrowed from the shooting range.
After shooting 357 rounds, IAW decided to attach a conversion kit called the ‘Switch Customizer’ that enables the semi-auto firearm into a fully-automatic gun. IAW inserted four rounds after attaching the converter.
However, catastrophe struck when IAW was surprised by the gun's reaction and recoiled the fully-auto firearm upwards, which according to Nico; “Caused two from the four rounds to end up at the DPR’s offices on the 13th and 16th floors.”
Police are currently investigating this incident which includes IAW and RMY’s experience in handling firearms. Police will also question the shooting range’s instructor considering that the suspects were not licensed to operate firearms and are faced with charges that include 20 years behind bars.
