TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice presidential candidate Sandiaga Uno was rumored to have affairs with several women as suggested by a website skandalsandiaga.com, that was suddenly popped up during the 2019 election campaign period.
Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, the National Campaign Agency (BPN) Prabowo-Sandiaga spokesperson, confirmed that the issue was such hoax news.
“We regret that there are still people who spread hoax and defamation,” said Dahnil today, September 25. He lamented such irresponsible issues made rounds during the present campaign period.
The issue involving Sandiaga was first published on September 22, on skandalsandiaga.com site. The vice presidential candidate was rumored to have affairs with an entrepreneur, a private employee, and a psychiatrist.
Based on the website, the women commonly visited Sandiaga Uno when he was being Jakarta deputy governor.
Upon the website presence, Dahnil demanded National Police Chief Tito Karnavian to fulfill promises to take stern action to the spreader of defamation and hoax news. He urged the police not to be biased in taking action against the issue.
Dahnil went on to say that defamation was a crucial test for the law enforcers. “We hope the police can arrest the spreader of slander within near time,” he said.
According to Dahnil, the hoax was made to attenuate Sandiaga in the presidential race. However, he added, Sandiaga Uno calmly responded to the issue and not even bothered.
