TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) is preparing a budget of Rp300 billion for the development of Banyuwangi Airport as the Low-Cost Carrier Airport or LCCA.
“An investment to encourage the five developments that are now being done,” said President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II Muhammad Awaluddin through a written statement, Monday, July 23.
Awaluddin said the development of Banyuwangi Airport to support the LCCA program, among others, by improving airport facilities and services. The ongoing development at Banyuwangi Airport includes overlay the runway so that it can accommodate the type of Boeing 737-8 NG, 737-9 ER and Airbus 320. In addition, the extension of aircraft parking (APRON) from the previous capacity of 3 to 9 narrow body aircraft.
Banyuwangi Airport runway is also expanded and extended, plus adding the parking space and passenger terminal.
According to Awaluddin, the development of Banyuwangi Airport is also as an AP II support program for the IMF - World Bank Annual Meeting event that will be held in Nusa Dua Bali in October 2018.
Banyuwangi Airport is also proposed to be an international airport following the request of several airlines to open international routes from and to Malaysia and Australia.
