TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Democrat Party politician Ferdinand Hutahaean said his party found the most non-neutral officials from the Police and National Intelligence Agency (BIN) ahead of the 2018 regional head elections.
“What we feel the most now is the non-neutral of the officials in Police and BIN,” he said when contacted on Sunday, June 24.
Ferdinand said he has the evidence. He stated it following the statement of Chairman of the Democratic Party Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono or SBY who said there are many officials of Police, BIN, and TNI that are not neutral in the elections.
SBY said there are a number of officials from those three parties that should be neutral but instead support one of the regional head candidates.
"What I have to say is that the story of the non-neutral from BIN, Police, TNI, is real. There was an incident, not a hoax,” said SBY in Bogor, Saturday, June 23.
However, according to Ferdinand, TNI is still quite neutral in this election. He said his party did not find evidence of TNI non-neutrality ahead of elections in 2018.
"But there is an effort to seduce the TNI into being non-neutral," he said.
Unlike the TNI, Ferdinand said, the Democrat Party has clear evidence of the non-neutrality of the police. He outlined some evidence, among others, the mutation of Maluku District Deputy Police Chief Brigadier General Hasanudin on June 20, 2018. According to him, Hasanudin was transferred for ordering his men to support one of the candidates.
"That's the reason Hasanudin is transferred," he said.
In addition, other evidence is the circulation of photos of North Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Paulus Waterpauw with a number of Indonesian Party of Struggle (PDIP) cadres. In the photo, he said, it appears the police chief held up two fingers, a form of support for the candidate pair of North Sumatra governor, Djarot Saiful Hidayat-Sihar Sitorus.
"That's our concern," he said.
As for BIN, Ferdinand said the Democratic Party also has no clear evidence of the non-neutral officials of this institution in the regional head elections. However, he claimed he could feel the non-neutrality of the institution.
"We feel those operations, but it's hard to prove because intelligence operations are quiet and closed," he said.
