KPK will Not Seize Its Efforts During Eid Holiday

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) urged the country`s state organizers to avoid corruption such as receiving or giving gratification and bribe during the Eid al-Fitr holiday. KPK also warned that it will not relax its surveillance despite the absence of many of its employees.

“The KPK employees are generally on collective leave, however, holidays cannot halt a number of tasks [to be dealt with],” said KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah today, June 13.

According to Febri, KPK will continue to play its role in monitoring and taking actions against the acts of corruption done by state organizers even though almost every employee in the private sector and civil state apparatus are on the Eid al-Fitr leave.

He further explained that KPK has an enforcement team that continues to work in the field to respond to people’s complaints and reports. “Other related employees will continue to work,” he said.

During Ramadan, KPK arrested the Mojokerto Legislative Council (DPRD) Speaker in a sting operation for corruption. Meanwhile, in the 2016 Eid al-Fitr, the KPK arrested Banyuasin Regent Yan Anton Ferdian for accepting money from a group that benefited from the regulations he had introduced.

During the 2018 Eid al-Fir, the Indonesian government decided to extend the government’s mandatory collective-leave to seven days. The leave for civil state apparatus was effective from June 11 to 20.
