TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - Garuda Pilots Association (APG) president Capt. Bintang Handono denied reports that Garuda Indonesia`s pilots and employees have signed an agreement to cancel their strike plan.
"We can ensure you that the information is false. We have not signed any agreement," he told Tempo on Monday, June 4.
Bintang made the statement to respond to media reports about a meeting between the airline's directors and members of the parliament. The reports said that the APG and Garuda's workers union Garuda (Sekarga) agreed to cancel their strike plan.

"The news is false. We never said that we will hold the strike during the Eid homecoming period, but we also will not cancel our strike plan until the government addresses and provides a solution to our problems," the captain said.
Bintang said the workers' action is aimed at saving the flag carrier. He said that what the public see is different from what is actually happening inside the company.
The five-star award given by Skytrax in February, he said, made employees both proud but also ironically sad as they are embarrassed by the poor service the airline gives to customers, such as delays or cancelations.

Sekarga chairman Tomy Tampati also denied the strike cancelation reports. He said the strike plan is only delayed until June 19. The decision was made after employee representatives met with the Coordinating Minister for Home Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan on May 31.
