TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Rainbow Warrior ship owned by Greenpeace organization has arrived in Tanjung Priok, Jakarta, on Monday morning, April 23. The ship is reported to will be docked for a week to campaign the environmental issue. “Our goal in Jakarta is to campaign the issue of air pollution, plastic waste, and to encourage a better habit among the community,” said Greenpeace Indonesia head Leonard Simanjuntak.

Greenpeace Indonesia's climate and energy campaigner Didit Haryo Wicaksono stated the 63-meter ship is opened to the public in Tj. Priok Port. “We invite the schools and people to board this ship,” said Didit.

The activist will later establish various activities related to the environmental issue. “Such as how solar energy can be used for our need, we will simulate it directly,” he explained, adding that the ship has previously visited Papua for a month and Bali for four days.

Jakarta Greater City is a chosen destination since it is the central administration of Indonesia. Greenpeace Indonesia's climate and energy campaigner Hindun Mulaikan pinned hope that Jakarta will be the leading city to fight for the climate change. “We have to switch to the renewable energy,” she said.

During the sailing from Bali to Jakarta, the Rainbow Warrior captain Pete Wilcox was shocked seeing plastic waste floating in the middle of the ocean. “Perhaps later we will see more plastic waste than the fish,” he noted.
