According to the governor, the call did not stop the towing process. “So there is no intervention,” he said in East Jakarta Mayor Office today, Thursday, April 5.
Anies deemed the Transport Agency officer who returned the towed car to its owner was a careless act which should have been taken as a lesson to all civil servants to arise habit that did not fear the leader. “This is an act of fearing the leader. The latest statement is contradicted to what Anies had said yesterday, April 4, stating that he would summon his staff who returned the impounded car without following the standard procedure. If the staff proved to violate the regulation, he pledged to take discipline act.
According to the head Jakarta Transportation Agency Andri Yansah, the regulation on the street parking is stipulated in Governor Decree No. 188/ 2016. He explained the road designated for a parking lot or on the street parking will have been attached with a sign. Thus, “If there is no sign, the road is prohibited for a parking area.”
Referring to Regional Decree No. 5/2014 on Transportation, Andri further explained, Ratna Sarumpaet indeed violated the regulation for parking her car on the road. “The decision whether Ratna’s behavior violated the rule or not is not on the hand of the agency, but the policy,” said Andri, a subordinate of Governor Anies Baswedan, Wednesday, April 4.
