Tangerang Prepares Hundreds of Medics for Diphtheria Vaccine

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tangerang Health Agency will deploy hundreds of medical personnel to provide immunization as a response to diphtheria outbreak. They will provide tetanus-diphtheria vaccine or outbreak response immunization (ORI).

ORI will begin tomorrow, on Monday (11/12). Tangerang Regency is one of 12 regencies/cities providing immunization targeting 1 millionpeople aged 1-19 years old.

"We carry out ORI with the assistance of personnel from medical services including community health centers (puskesmas), hospitals, and others. Since it involves injection, medical personnel must be in charge," Tangerang Health Agency head Desiriana Dinardianti said on Sunday (10/12).

The execution of immunization, Desiriana continued, will be done simultaneously in a number of places including community health centers (puskesmas), integrated health services post (posyandu), schools, and hospitals in Tangerang Regency.
