Minister Sri Mulyani Comments on Assets of Setya Novanto`s Lawyer

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A video of an interview with Fredrich Yunadi, the lawyer of the Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Setya Novanto, has been doing the rounds on social media. In the footage, Fredrich revealed that he lives a luxury live, spending up to Rp3 billion during a vacation.
Finance Minister Sri Mulyani said she is pleased with the revelation. “I’m pleased, actually. The more people tell about their wealth, car purchase, any purchase, the better. Why? They actually make a voluntary disclosure,” she said at the Directorate-General of Taxes (Tax DG) in Jakarta on November 27.
She said that the revelation will make taxmen’s job easier. Information from the people will help the government.
Nevertheless, Sri Mulyani declined to elaborate whether the Tax DG will examine Friedrich or not. “Taxpayers’ data are confidential,” she said.
Sri Mulyani has instead called on taxpayers to examine their respective tax return and unreported income, particularly those who have publicly declared their abundant wealth.
