7000 Personnel to Secure Jakarta Gubernatorial Inauguration

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Some 7000 police and military personnel will secure the inauguration of Jakarta Governor-elect Anies Baswedan and Deputy Governor-elect Sandiaga Uno (Anies and Sandi) this afternoon, Jakarta Metro Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono said.
Anies and Sandi will be inaugurated by President Joko Widodo at the State Palace at 4 pm Jakarta time. The ceremony will continue with the transfer of power between former governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat and Anies followed by a plenary meeting at Jakarta City Council building.

The event will be ended with people’s festival held at the City Hall starting at 7 pm. Malay music group Soneta and front-man Rhoma Irama will be performing on the occasion.
Anies and Sandi will be leading Jakarta for the next five years after defeating Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama and Djarot Saiful Hidayat ticket in the 2017 Jakarta election.
