Indonesian Creative Products Hard to Penetrate Korea Market

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf) head Triawan Munaf stated that Indonesian creative products are difficult to penetrate South Korean market. This is because Korean market is closed and Koreans really love their domestic products.

“Negotiation is difficult to do since Korean market is closed. Theyhighly appreciate their own products. We actually want Indonesians to hold such appreciation on our own products,” he said in Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran, on Saturday (2/9).

Despite the case, Triawan said that the government keep on pushing to get Indonesian products to enter South Korea. He specifically asked Korea to open their market for Indonesian products.

Triawan admitted that he had negotiated with Korean representatives. “I said that we will open Indonesian market for Korea. But I also asked to have a cooperation in the future so that Indonesia creative products such as animation, comic books, and Indonesian television programs to enter Korean Market.”

Korean government was also asked to help the development of creative economy in Indonesia to meet the needs of Korean market. He also wanted Indonesian creative industry to learn from the same industry in Korea that have effective marketing strategies.
