TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police said Indonesia is still one of the main markets for international drug circulation.
The Jakarta Police's director of drug and narcotics department Comr. Nico Afinta said this is evident by the confiscation of one ton of crack cocaine in Anyer Beach, Banten, and 40 kilograms more in Kalideres, West Jakarta, some time ago.

The huge demand, said Nico, is supported by the large number of drug users in Indonesia. Nico said the number is estimated to reach five to six million people.
"This data is based on information from the National Narcotics Agency (BNN)," he said in Jakarta, on Monday.
He also said that about 10 percent of drug users in the country live in Jakarta. From the 10 percent, about half are active users.

Based on these data, Nico said the police will continue to combat drugs use and circulation in Indonesia. He said he will not hesitate from taking firm actions.
"So do not try to distribute drugs in Indonesia," he warned.
