TEMPO.CO, Padang - Mount Marapi in Padang West Sumatera has erupted again on Tuesday, June 6. The volcano has erupted 53 times since Sunday.
The Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Center (PVMBG) of Bukittinggi City said that on Tuesday, Mount Marapi erupted five times from midnight to 06:00. Each eruption had an amplitude of 5.0 to 32.0 millimeters. Thick, gray smoke can be seen from the crater going up of 75 to 100 meters.

Then, from morning until noon, the volcano erupted seven more times. After 12:00 pm it erupted again once.
Bukit Tinggi PVMBG observer Hartanto Prawiro said volcano's activity has decreased on Tuesday.
On Monday, the volcano that stands 2,891 meters above sea level erupted 34 times, spewing volcanic ashes up to 200 meters high. On Sunday, it only erupted six times but the ashes spewed reached a height of up to 700 meters.
