TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok said he will not prohibit anyone to send flowers to the city hall. As of today, the number of floral arrangements sent has reached more than 3,200 pieces, adorning the City Hall.
The floral displays express support for Ahok and his deputy Djarot Saiful Hidayat who lost the election and will leave office in October.
Ahok says the flowers have made the City Hall prettier. "It's like a flower festival here. The public can enjoy it without spending a dime," Ahok said.
Once the flowers withered, the Jakarta administration office will not throw the boards away and will allow anyone to take and resell them.
"We will not prohibit or reject (the flower arrangements). People can resell them. For each board, you can sell it for Rp50,000 to florists," he said in Jakarta Friday, April 28.
The City Administration has decided to relocate some of the flower display to the National Monument (Monas) area in Central Jakarta.
