TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Siti Aisyah, an Indonesian woman suspected to be involved in the murder of Kim Jong-nam, the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, undergoes trial on Wednesday, March 1, 2017. Aisyah is being tried at Malaysia's Sepang magistrate court.
Lawyer Gooi Soong Seng arrived in court in the morning and told reporters he will be defending the 25-year-old.
The court charges Siti Aisyah and 29-year-old Vietnamese Duon Thi Huong for allegedly taking part in the murder of Kim Jong-nam at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA2) on February 13, 2017.
Duon was arrested on February 15, 2017, when she was about to board a flight to Vietnam. The next day, Aisyah was arrested.
The police tightened security prior to the start of the media-attracting trial, with 199 officers guarding the courthouse area.
