Gov`t to Maximize Ferry Use During This Year`s Eid Day Season

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government is pushing for the use of ferries for Eid Day transport this year in a bid to reduce the number of vehicles on the streets.

Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said that the number of vehicles on the street could be reduced significantly if vehicles like buses can be accommodated by ferries.

“If [Roll on roll off] ferries can operate well, let’s they can accommodate 400 busses inside, it will be significant,” Budi said in Jakarta on Friday (24/2).

The Minister added that during this year’s Ied Day season, the government aims to use sea-lane as an alternative besides railways.
