We Must Attract 10 Million Chinese Tourists: Jokowi

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) demanded serious efforts to attract at least 10 million international tourists from China to visit Indonesia.

"There are 150 million tourists from China every year, and The United States and Europe became their main tourism destinations. I especially demand 10 million tourists from China," President Jokowi said in the second phase of Tax Amnesty socialization program in Makassar (25/11).

President claimed that he had already signed an agreement with the Chinese government on the visit of the tourists to Indonesia.

President Jokowi targeted 20 million international tourists by 2019. He added that a number of measures have been taken, among others, by developing 10 top tourism destinations, improving our positioning in terms of product differentiation, and branding. He also stated that Wonderful Indonesia is continuously promoted abroad as one of the attempts to meet the target.
