PDIP Finally Endorses Ahok-Djarot Pair in Jakarta Election

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) has decided to nominate Basuki Tjahaja Purnama-Djarot Saiful Hidayat as their champion in the upcoming Jakarta Gubernatorial Election. Secetary General Hasto Kristiyanto announced the decision on Tuesday evening, September 20.

"PDIP is committed to help this pair win the race," said Hasto.

Hasto said that the pair can run Jakarta Administration, in accordance to the government's mission. Meanwhile, Hasto said that Djarot, as the party's cadre, has the spirit to build the city.

"Therefore, PDIP is committed," he said.

Ahok-Djarot pair is incumbent. Previously, PDIP has nominaed Ahok as a deputy governor in the previous election in 2012. Two years as a deputy, Ahok stepped in as Jokowi took the presidency.
