TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta transportation agency and the Traffic Directorate of the Jakarta Police on Saturday conducted an operation to raid online app-based taxis.
During the operation, the joint team arrested 11 online app-based taxis.
“We do this to upheld the prevailing regulations,” said Jakarta Transportation Agency Head Andri Yansyah on Sunday (31/7).
The operation was done in several places in Jakarta, including Kelapa Gading mall, Mall of Indonesia in Kelapa Gading, Matraman, Cempaka Mas, and on Jalan Pemuda, East Jakarta.
Andri added that previously, there was already an agreement with the operators of online app-based taxis such as Grab, Go-Car and Uber about the operation of those online app taxis.
In the agreements, it is said that cars used as online taxis must have permits and must already gone through the roadworthiness test (KIR).
“However, there are still many app-based taxis that do not have permits and have not gone through the KIR,” he added.
