TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputy chief Insp. Gen. Basaria Panjaitan said on Friday, December 25, 2015, that the newly inaugurated KPK leaders were still preparing for their work plan.

Basaria promised that the new KPK leaders would focus on balancing enforcement and prevention programs.

“Basically, enforcement and prevention efforts would be conducted hand in hand by involving relevant institutions, police, prosecutor’s office and communities,” Basaria added.

Basaria and four others were inaugurated by President Joko Widodo on Monday December 21, 2015 as the new KPK commissioners for the period of 2015-2019. In their first week at the KPK, the five commissioners underwent an induction phase, where they were introduced with the organization’s procedures and briefed with ethics codes and cases handled by old commissioners.

KPK chief Agus Rahadjo said that he admired the Tangkap Tangan (catching in the act) operation run by the KPK. Agus hopes that such an operation will be enforced under his leadership.
