TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-The Jakarta Legislative Council plans to visit several countries in Asia and the United States next year costing Rp 1.2 billion (US$84,700), legislators said Tuesday, October 6.
City council secretary Muhammad Yuliadi said that the plan was aimed at following up Jakarta administration official visits abroad.
“The city council must visit [the countries] to follow up government’s official visit,” Yuliadi said on Tuesday.
Yuliadi added that the city council would also visit Rotterdam, Netherland, to confirm accountability report made by Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama who visited the city earlier.
Yuliadi clarified that the city council’s plan to visit the United States, Asia and Europe was still a proposal. According to Yuliadi, the plan would have to be approved by the city council’s budgetary body.
Prabowo Soenirman, a city councilor overseeing infrastructures, was convinced that the proposal would be approved.
“We heard that Ahok went there [Rotterdam]. We need to confirm his report,” Prabowo said.
Earlier in September, Ahok visited Rotterdam to learn how the city administration set up reclamations, addressed flooding issues and processed mud gas into electricity.
