TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chairman of the National Cyber Information Defense and Security Desk (DK2ICN) of the Coordinating Ministry of Political, Legal and Security (Kemenkopolhukam) Air Vice Marshal Agus Ruchyan Barnas guaranteed the National Cyber Agency (BCN) will carry out its functions independently and actively.
According to Agus, BCN will not be bound by any other country’s cyber defense, but will still actively cooperate internationally.
"We are involved in global cyber conferences or meetings, but we are not tied to any group," said Agus when contacted by Antara here on Sunday, September 6.
Ruchyan continued that today internationally, whether we like it or not, the world is divided into several power blocks such as China working together with Russia, then the European Union with the United States.
Therefore, he said Indonesia should play "pretty" in order not to be dragged into one camp. One way is by studying how the system works of other countries’ cyber defense institutions and adapt them according to the personality and needs of the nation.
"In the framework of the establishment of BCN, DK2ICN studied cyber defense systems in various countries such as USA, Australia, Singapore and others. Later Indonesia will cooperate with these countries in terms of cyber defense while maintaining a neutral stance," he says.
"BCN will be established through Presidential Decree. We expect the presence of BCN will be directly under the President," said Agus.
