TEMPO.CO, Jakarta- Top Indonesian mixed doubles Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir sail smoothly into the semifinals of the 2015 BWF World Championships after toppling the South Korean pair Ko Sung Hyun/Kim Ha Na at the Istora Senayan stadium on Friday, August 14.
Tontowi/Liliyana bulldozed their opponents in two straight sets by 21-8, 21-14.
The couple gained control of the game from the start. Tontowi/Liliyana, who is currently ranked third in the world, continued to press Sung Hyun/Ha Na, causing problems for the eighth ranking Korean pair.
Attack after attack launched by Tontowi and Liliyana was not able to be returned by Sung Hyun/Ha Na. The score difference between the two couples became increasingly significant.
Throughout the match, Ha Na often made errors that actually benefited Tontowi/Liliyana.
Tontowi/Liliyana managed to secure a ticket to the semifinals with a 21-14 victory over Sung Hyun/Ha Na.
Later in the semifinals, Tontowi/Liliyana has the opportunity to meet another Indonesian couple Praveen Jordan/Debby Susanto who are competing against top seed Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei from China.
