Greater Jakarta Buses Introduce Onboard E-Ticketing Facilities

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Starting August 10, 2015, Transjabodetabek buses operated by state-owned bus company Perusahaan Pengangkutan Djakarta (PPD) Bus is set to introduce on-board e-ticketing facilities.
"So far, there have been 10 buses that are already equipped with e-ticket tapping machines. We’re going to put the machine in 78 other buses. This month, we will also evaluate the implementation,” said PPD President Director Pande Putu Yasa on Friday, August 7.
Pande said that in implementing the system, PPD has worked with PT Telkom. He also said that passengers would be charged Rp 7,000 (66 US cents) when they tapped their electronic card on the onboard e-ticketing machine.
For the selling of the card, Pande said that passengers can buy the e-ticket card inside the buses and driver assistants will assist passengers to buy the cards.
Pande further said that in the future, the e-ticket cards are expected to be used for other payment such as toll road as, train fares, as well as to shop at certain supermarkets.
Transjabodetabek buses is operated as part of PPD’s Trans Jabodetabek routes, traveling to Jakarta from satellite cities such as Bekasi, Bogor and Depok in West Java and South Tangerang in Banten.
