TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo plans to form an export supervision team, Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs Sofyan Djalil said on Monday, August 3, 2015.
The team will be tasked to find new export destination, as well as assessing its market and matching with Indonesian potentials.
The president wants to perform market diversification in facing weakened global market. "It is to prevent the market from being conventional," Sofyan said.
He claimed that there are still many countries with high export potentials, yet not yet optimized. “Iran for example, has a total export value of US$ 500 million. Some years ago, it had been US$ 2.5 billion," said Sofyan. “We need to intensify this."
The team will later be under the coordination of Trade Ministry, as well as involving other ministries. It will first determine the products and perform analysis before determining the export destination.
