TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Dewi Fortuna Anwar, the Vice President's deputy secretary for political affairs, said that Indonesia and Iran were planning a cooperation in nuclear technology development for peaceful civilian purposes.
According to Dewi, Iran's delegation will visit Indonesia in the near future to discuss the cooperation plan.
"We are expecting cooperation in advanced technology [with Iran], including that related to nuclear," Dewi said after accompanying Vice President Jusuf "JK" Kalla in a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Indonesia Valiollah Mohammadi on Thursday, July 30, 2015.
Dewi added that Iran would also send petroleum experts to Indonesia to discuss cooperation in the oil and gas sector.
Earlier, the world’s major powers clinched a historic deal on Tuesday July 14, 2015, with Iran related to nuclear technology. The deal was to ensure that Iran would not develop nuclear bombs and to open up Tehran's stricken economy.
The deal was reached after 18-days long of marathon talks in Vienna, Austria.
