TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) considers Piala Kemerdekaan (Independence Cup) illegal because the tournament is held by the Sport Ministry’s Transition Team which has no legal standing after the Jakarta State Administrative Court’s (PTUN) ruling delayed the implementation of Sport Ministry’s decree no. 01307.
“The Transition Team is illegal, all forms of its activities are illegal because the Sport Ministry’s Transition Team has no legal standing,” said PSSI Legal Director Aristo Pangaribuan as quoted by PSSI’s official website on Saturday.
“The Transition Team has no capacity of performing any activty because PTUN’s decision No. 091/2015 has decided that ministry’s decree no.01307 concerning PSSI’s Freezing, which is also the legal standing of the Transition Team, has no binding power until there is permanent legal force."
According to the law, Transition Team may regain its legal status and returns to its activity if the judge at PTUN rejects, as their final decision, PSSI’s lawsuit to annul the Sport Ministry’s decree.
Aristo further explained that the Independence Cup is illegal also because the tournament is not approved by PSSI which is the rightful organization by law to hold national-scale tournaments.
PSSI warns football clubs in Main Division and members of the organization not to make mistake by participating in the tournament.
