Ahok: Improving Public Service is a Form of City Enhancement

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" T. Purnama was acting as the inspector in the ceremony of 488th Jakarta Anniversary in Monas Court plaza, Central Jakarta.
He congratulated the city's anniversary in front of the officials, employees, and ranks of Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda). “Happy 488th anniversary Jakarta, long life for us,” he expressed, Monday.
On that special occasion, he conveyed his hope for the beloved city Jakarta. At least there are three aspects that he wants to improve, which are health, education, and transportation.
“I want type D hospitals to be provided in every sub-districts. I don’t want poor people get any trouble with transportation costs and their daily needs,” he said.
Thus, Ahok hoped that in the future, all of 1,250 Jakartans could be handled by doctor, nurse midwife, and nurses in every general hospital owned by Jakarta City Administration.
Ahok planned to add 400 beds in Koja General Hospital and 500 beds in Pasar Minggu General Hospital. The addition of those facilities is targeted finish in July 2015 and marked by soft opening. “We are going to push all public service to be better, because it is a form of city enhancement,” he uttered.
In educational field, Ahok continued, City Administration has applied Jakarta Smart Card non cash system. Start from this year cash can be drawn only for Rp50,000 once a week to prevent any deviations.
“Actually after Eid al Fitr, we will hold a book fair with discount offer and we want to give the book to them. Teacher will also be driven to bring the students to buy school stuffs in that fair with debit system,” he said.
Finally, he revealed that he will not purchase poor quality buses this year. Later on, all public transportation purchased must have high standard and quality just like other public transportation in developed countries.
“By this year I guarantee we won’t purchase any poor quality buses,” he disclosed.
