Bulog Ensures Rice Supply Still Enough Ahead of Fasting Month

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned logistics agency (Bulog) said that the supply of premium rice is safe head of the fasting month and the Eid al-Fitr Day, which falls in July.
According to Bulog Director of Public Service Leily Pelitasari Soebekty, rice supply at Bulog until now reaches 1.056 tons of ton.
"Rice supply is safe until the next five months,” Leily said in Jakarta on Saturday.
She ensured that Bulog could still distribute rice although the government plans to conduct market operation in the first days of the fasting month.
"Usually, before the fasting month, the government often conducts market operation. We are ready and the supply is enough,” she added.
Leily further said that the rice absorption level by Bulog pun is still being done and the level is still safe, which is at 25,000 tons per day.
According to Leily, the ratio of the amount of rice supply at Bulog warehouses with the amount of rice circulating at the moment us quite high.
She also said that there is around 10 percent of rice is in Bulog, while the rese in in the households, farmers, traders and houses. From the estimation, she said that Bulog ensured rice supply would be enough until Eid Day.
