Chief of PSSI Reports ISL Issue to FIFA

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has filed a report on the temporary suspension of the Indonesia Super League (ISL) competition to the World Football Federation (FIFA). PSSI Chairman Djohar Arifin Husin said that FIFA has asked for the competition to be resumed with 18 clubs as initially proposed.

"FIFA recommended that all clubs must not quit the league [...]" Djohar told Tempo.

Previously, PSSI decided to halt the ISL, which was supposed to start on April 12, 2015. The decision came after the Indonesian Professional Sports Agency (BOPI) threatened to sue PSSI if it insists on continuing the league.

BOPI cited that two out of 18 clubs scheduled to participate in the competition were having adminsitration issue, namely Arema Cronus and Persebaya Surabaya. On the other hand, Djohar argued that the two clubs have fulfilled BOPI requirements, including administration and tax requirements. "However, when the competition started at April 4, [BOPI] raised its concerns on ownership issues. I believe these are two different problems," he said.
