TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Irfan Humaidi, a spokesman for the Healthcare and Social Security Agency (BPJS Kesehatan), said there were differences in health services his company rendered to the public in general and convicts, as were apparent in their types of registration and premium.

Irfan said his company received data of convicts enjoying BPJS services from the Jakarta administration. “It’s from the Jakarta Health Card (KJS) that is integrated with BPJS,” he told Tempo on Sunday, March 1, 2015.

He further said that the convicts included in BPJS services were categorized as deprived, while others with stronger financial capacity were exempt from BPJS services paid by the Jakarta government.

Irfan said the number of deprived convicts BPJS covered reached 13,300 and the figure would fluctuate in line with the arrival of new inmates at prisons.

Irfan added the Jakarta government paid a monthly Rp19,225 per convict for class III BPJS services, compared to the Rp25,500 paid by regular customers. “The convicts are classified as recipients of the contribution aid for the deprived,” he said.
