TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) in its hearing in Paris, France decided that Indonesia be removed from the blacklist of countries susceptible to money laundering, Financial Transaction Report and Analysis Center (PPATK) deputy head Agus Santoso said on Wednesday, February 25, 2015.
According Agus, Indonesia is required to enforce a regulation to freeze terrorists’ assets as initiated by the United Nations Security Council.
“[Assets owned] by Taliban and Al-Qaeda networks have been blocked,” Agus told Tempo on Thursday, February 26, 2015, without revealing the total amount of funds owned by the alleged terrorist networks.
Agus is currently in Paris to attend an FATF hearing until this weekend. Indonesia has been listed as a member of the Asia Pacific Group (APG) on Money Laundering, an organization under the FATF, since 2000.
