TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Member of the Transpiration Commission of the House of Representatives (DPR-RI) form the Hanura Fraction Fauzih Amro proposed the temporary suspension of Lion Air’s flight permits for a month because the airline is considered to bring financial losses to the passengers with flight delays.

The sanction, he said, is imposed so that the airline could improve its internal management.

"Lion Air is known to have flight delays a lot of times. How can it repeat the same mistakes? The government must impose a sanction to the airline," said Fauzih.

According to Fauzih, the one-month suspension for Lion Air flights is the most severe punishment.

DPR, Fauzih said, also plans to summons Lion Air management in March to discuss a number of issues, including the incident of delays of a number of Lion Air flights since Wednesday, 18 February 2015, and the establishment of a working committee on safety, security and quality of flights.

In the meantime, Special Staff for Public Information Transparency of the Transportation Ministry Hadi Mustofa Djuraid said that the government had yet to discuss plans to revoke permits of Lion Air.

The government, Hadi said, through the Director General of Air Transportation next week would also summons Lion Air.

"We’re going to listen to their explanation first. We will ask for their explanation why the incidents happened,” Hadi said.
